Loan Repayment Calculator
Loan Repayment Calculator Find Out What You’ll Actually Pay
This loan repayment calculator estimates what you’ll pay each month on a home loan, how much goes to interest versus principal, and the total interest charged across the full term. Enter your loan amount, interest rate, term, and repayment frequency for a clean repayment figure and a total cost number most borrowers underestimate.
The estimate assumes a standard principal and interest loan with a constant rate. Real loans vary as rates move and fees apply, so treat the output as a planning figure, not a loan offer.
How Loan Repayments Are Calculated
Lenders work out the fixed amount you need to pay each period so the loan is fully repaid by the end of the term. Each repayment splits into interest, calculated on the current balance and paid first, and principal, which is what’s left over to reduce the loan.
In the early years of a 30-year loan, most of your repayment is interest, and only a small share reduces the principal. As the balance falls, so does the interest charge, and more of each repayment goes to principal. This is amortisation, and it’s why extra repayments made early have a much bigger long-term effect than the same amount paid in year 20.
How to Use the Calculator
You need four numbers for a meaningful estimate. Have your loan statement, a lender quote, or your current rate handy.
- Loan amount. Your current balance, or the amount you plan to borrow
- Interest rate. Your current rate or an indicative quote
- Loan term. Remaining years on the loan
- Repayment frequency. Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly
The loan repayment calculator returns your repayment amount, total interest across the loan, and an indicative total cost. Run it a few times with different inputs to see how a rate cut, a shorter term, or fortnightly repayments change the picture.
How ADA Financial Services Helps
A repayment calculator answers one question: what you’ll pay each month at this rate. A broker answers the next one: which loan fits your full position.
ADA Financial Services compares home loan products across our lender panel and looks at total cost, features, and lender policy together. We assess your income, deposit, existing commitments, and goals, and compare lenders on rate, fees, and policy fit. Our fee is paid by the lender at settlement in most standard cases, disclosed in writing before any application proceeds. We’re based on the Sunshine Coast and work with borrowers across Northern Australia.
