Savings Target Date Calculator

Savings Target Date Calculator See How Long It’ll Take You to Get There

This savings target date calculator works out how long it’ll take to reach a specific savings target based on what you’re already putting aside. Enter your current account balance, your saving goal, your interest rate, and your regular deposit amount and frequency, and it returns the time it’ll take to reach your goal, along with total deposits, total interest earned, and total savings.

This is the reverse of a standard savings calculator, instead of showing where a regular deposit habit lands you after a set number of years, it works backward from a target you set and tells you when you’ll get there. Output is an estimate based on your inputs and a constant interest rate, not a guaranteed return.

Why the Timeline Isn’t Just About the Deposit Amount

Your regular deposit is the main driver of how quickly you reach a savings goal, but your current balance and interest rate both shift the timeline too, sometimes by more than people expect. On a $10,000 starting balance with a $50,000 goal, $1,000 deposited monthly at 6 percent interest reaches the target in 2 years and 11 months, with total interest earned making up roughly $5,000 of the $50,000 final figure.

That interest contribution grows as a share of the total the longer the timeline runs, which is one reason starting earlier, even with a smaller deposit, can close the gap faster than waiting to save a larger amount later. The saving balance chart shows this by breaking each year into deposits versus interest, so you can see how much of the climb toward your goal is coming from your own contributions versus what the balance is earning on its own.

How to Use the Calculator

Four inputs give you a full projection:

  • Current account balance. What you’ve already saved

  • Saving goal. The target amount you’re aiming for

  • Interest rate. The rate you expect to earn

  • Regular deposit. The amount and how often you add to it, such as monthly

The savings target date calculator returns how long it’ll take to reach your target, your total deposits over that period, total interest earned, and your total savings once the goal is met. Run it with a higher regular deposit to see how much sooner a small increase gets you there.

How ADA Financial Services Helps

A savings target date calculator shows the timeline on your current settings. A broker looks at how that timeline fits into a home loan plan, including whether your target deposit amount and timeframe puts you in a strong position with lenders once you get there.

ADA Financial Services helps borrowers work out how a savings timeline lines up with a home loan application, including what deposit size and saving pace makes the most sense for your situation. Our fee is paid by the lender at settlement in most standard cases, disclosed in writing before any application proceeds. We’re based on the Sunshine Coast and work with borrowers across Northern Australia.

Yes, a higher starting balance reduces the gap to your goal and can meaningfully shorten the time needed, especially when combined with regular deposits.

It varies by rate and timeline, but interest can make up a meaningful share of your final total, particularly on longer saving periods where compounding has more time to build.

Yes, it’s a straightforward way to see when you’ll hit a specific deposit target, which is useful context before speaking with a broker about your borrowing position and timeline.

What This Loan Repayment Calculator Shows

This loan repayment calculator estimates what you will pay each month on a home loan, how much of that payment goes to interest versus principal, and the total interest charged across the full term. You enter your loan amount, interest rate, term, and repayment frequency. The output gives you a clean repayment figure to plan around and a total cost number that most borrowers underestimate.

The estimate is based on the inputs you provide and assumes a standard principal and interest loan with a constant interest rate. Real loans vary as rates move and fees apply. Treat the output as a planning figure, not a loan offer.
